William Alfred Norrish


William Alfred Norrish J/37467, was a "Boy 1st Class" aboard the
Battlecruiser H.M.S."Queen Mary" at the Battle of Jutland.
The battle took place on Wednesday 31st May 1916 and
1266 men aboard the "Queen Mary", including Captain Cecil I.Prowse,
were killed when she was blown up.
A further 6 were wounded and 2 taken prisoner.

William Alfred Norris was one of two men with the
name Norrish to be killed in the great sea battle.
Five men with the name Norris were also killed.

The name of William Alfred Norrish can be found on panel 13 of the
Plymouth Naval Memorial which is situated centrally on The Hoe
overlooking Plymouth Sound.
