Victor Ernest Norris


Gunner Victor Ernest Norris, 7482, Royal Marine Artillery, was
killed aboard the H.M.S."Lion" at the Battle of Jutland, on
Wednesday 31st May 1916.

He was one of five men with the
name Norris to be killed in the great sea battle.
Two men with the name Norrish were also killed.

The battlecruiser "Lion" was the flagship of Vice-Admiral
Sir David Beatty, and though damaged, survived.

Portsmouth Naval Memorial records the name of
Victor Ernest Norris on panel 21.
The memorial, is situated on Southsea Common
overlooking the promenade.
