April 18th 1914

A family of nine was bereaved on Wednesday evening by the death of their father, Mr John Edward Norris,of the Spalding Road, Holbeach.

Deceased, who was in his 49th year had been in Holbeach for many years and carried on the business of a potato merchant. He was one of the most popular and widely known men about town, and some months ago gained publicity through a visit from the alleged cancer curer Mr Delvine.

The visit was only an introductory one, and was not repeated.

Some two years ago Mr Norris fell and hurt his knee, and the injury developed to such an extent that ultimately one of his legs was amputated, and a mechanical leg purchased by public subscription. For some time past he has been confined to his room through cancer, and during the last month lost his remaining health. His wife survives him.

The internment took place at Holbeach Cemetery on Saturday afternoon.
