Hugh Leigh Norris was the Fleet Surgeon aboard the Battlecruiser
H.M.S."Indefatigable" when she was blown up at the Battle of
Jutland, on May 31st 1916, with the loss of 1017 lives.
He was one of five men with the
name Norris to be killed in the great sea battle.
Two men with the name Norrish were also killed.
H.M.S."Indefatigable" was captained by Captain Charles F Sowerby.
The name of Hugh Leigh Norris can be found on panel 10 of the
Plymouth Memorial which is situated centrally on The Hoe
overlooking Plymouth Sound.
