Charles George Norris

Charles George Norris, Stoker 1st Class was killed
at the Battle of Jutland.
The battle took place on Wednesday 31st May 1916,
and he was one of the 1027 casualties
aboard H.M.S."Invincible", when she was blown up.
Of those casualties all but one were killed.
H.M.S."Invincible" was under the command of Captain Arthur L. Cay,
flying the flag of Rear-Admiral the Hon. Horace L.A. Hood.

Charles George Norris was one of five men with the
name Norris to be killed in the great sea battle.
Two men called Norrish were also killed.

His name is recorded on panel number 19 of the Portsmouth Naval
Memorial, which is on Southsea Common overlooking the promenade.
