C.D.Norris We regret to report that Petty Officer Charles David Norris of the Hawke Batallion (R.N.D.), the second son of Mr and Mrs J Norris, who resides on the Holbeach Colonies, near Holbeach, (late of Langtoft) was killed in action in France on the 5th September 1917.
He leaves a wife, who resides at Ivy Terrace, South Elmsall, and two young children. He formerly worked at the Frickley Colliery, and was an active member of the local branch of the Y.M.A. He enlisted in March 1915, and has seen service at the Dardanelles, and in France.
Mr and Mrs J Norris have another son, Private Alfred George Norris, who has seen active service at the Dardanelles, Egypt and now he is in France. Also Private James Sauntson, who is also in France, and was home a short time ago, is the son-in-law of Mr and Mrs J Norris, and the son of Mrs Sauntson of Holbeach Bank.

As the Hawke Batallion was under secondment to the army, all personel were permitted to use their naval ranks.
